Location

A magical place that soothes the soul…

Where the mountains merge magically with the sea, in the southwestern part of the island of Crete and 77 km away from Chania, you will find Chora Sfakion, or Sfakia. Far from the crowds and mass tourism, Sfakia is famous not only for the warm hospitality of the locals, but also for their strong resistance against the conquerors throughout the island’s turbulent past.

In the heart of the historic village and just 30m from “Vrysi” beach, you will find Sfakia Luxury Suites. The suites are conveniently located next to local bakeries, supermarkets, cafes, taverns, tourist shops with souvenirs and local products such as raki, thyme honey and graviera cheese – everything is within walking distance.

Beaches

Sfakia is also a paradise for beach lovers. The entire coastline of the area features some of the most enchanting beaches of Crete. Three of the most popular spots are Fragokastelo, Loutro and Agia Roumeli, but there are also some “hidden” treasures such as Iligas, Phoinikas, Agios Pavlos, Glyka Nera, Orthi Ammos, Marmaras and others.

Gastronomy

Both in Chora Sfakion and along the beach you will find a number of excellent family restaurants and taverns offering traditional delicacies, made with local products. Of course, you cannot leave Sfakia without tasting the famous Sfakian pie – the traditional handmade pie with local cheese accompanied by local thyme honey, which is famous for its exquisite taste!

Tradition

Sfakia tradition is a tradition of hospitality, respect, and appreciation for the natural environment that has been passed down through generations in the Sfakia region of Crete. It includes the use of local ingredients and traditional cooking methods, the appreciation of nature and the environment, and the preservation of local culture and customs. The tradition also includes the sharing of stories, songs, and music, as well as the celebration of festivals, holidays, and special occasions. Sfakia tradition is a unique way of life that has been passed down through generations and is still practiced today.
